As a proven leader in providing high performance, next generation mobile internet solutions, this team within Nokia is seeking a Software Engineer - Java / C++ at our Itasca, Illinois office (just outside Chicago). You'll work with highly motivated team members who possess a passion for excellence, developing innovative, creative solutions in a fast-paced environment. Our solutions need to exceed consumer expectations in order to provide the best-in-class possible internet experience in the market.
Responsibilities:
As part of this team, you'll work on a LINUX based product developing software in C++ & Java.
Your expertise with object-oriented design and techniques, client-server architectures, Java frameworks, DOMs, and browsers such as Safari and Mozilla will be utilized every day!
Some of the development environment tools you'll use are Eclipse, Ant, Maven, JUnit, and JProbe.
Our products use Apache, Tomcat, JavaScript, JSON, XML parsers, Servlets, Java Beans, JDKs, protocols such as SOAP and HTTP to deliver the internet to 100s of millions of phones.
· Help create a mobile UX second to none
· Research, design, and implement complex software solutions
· Be on the leading edge of integrating internet technologies, cell phones, and wireless networks
· Work with Nokia development teams around the world to extend mobile phone services such as location based services and web applications
· 5+ years of Java / C++ development experience
· Proven experience writing software for large scale deployments
· Experience working through tradeoffs and constraints during design and planning phases
· Internet technologies (web services, HTML, XML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, http, DHTML, etc.)
· Experience creating Widgets / Web Apps
· Experience with IDEs and SDKs
· Mobile device development background a plus
· BS / MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
· Possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills
